Student resource: an app to help students settle into university

Spread the love

Happy Student is an app built to help students adjust to every part of university life.

Starting university is a mix of excitement and overwhelm. There’s so much to handle—keeping up with lectures and deadlines, making new friends, and figuring out your way around. It’s no surprise if you feel a bit lost sometimes. That’s why Happy Student was created by international student Aram Tufan, to make the university journey as smooth and stress-free as possible.

The Happy Student app is filled with practical tools and support for the key areas of student life. Whether you need help with finances, health, accommodation, or just some advice on what to do next, the app has got you covered.

Features of the Happy Student App

  • Finance & budgeting support: Get smart tips and tricks to manage your money and find the best deals.
  • Health & well-being: Easily register with a GP, find mental health support, and take care of your overall well-being. The app also breaks down the NHS and other services for international students new to the UK healthcare system.
  • Accommodation: Guides you through finding a place to live and setting up bills.
  • Visa help: Stay on top of important deadlines and paperwork with visa support features.
  • Counselling & support: Connects you with mental health resources, legal advice, and more.
  • Transport & travel tips: Learn how to navigate public transport in the UK.

This year, Happy Student 2.0 launched with even more helpful features, including:

  • Actions: A smart checklist with reminders for essential tasks—from setting up utilities and managing budgets to accessing healthcare and handling academic work.
  • Happy Student AI: A personal assistant that gives quick, hassle-free guidance whenever you need it.
  • Student discounts: Access popular brands at discounted prices.

Tailored Support for Your University

Along with general advice, Happy Student offers personalised help. If your university is a partner institution, you’ll find a dedicated section in the app with university-specific advice, events, and resources—everything you need to thrive on campus.

“It helped me settle into the big city. It’s packed with useful links for GP registration, transportation, and more,” says Lonnie, a second-year student at the University of Westminster.

Students can also email the team with any questions or concerns.

Happy Student works closely with student unions across the UK, including UCL, BCUSU, and many others.

And the support doesn’t stop at graduation. Moving into post-university life can be just as challenging as starting uni. The app continues to help graduates with finances, healthcare, housing, and more.
